Welcome to our surf school, located on the North shore of Kaua‘i at Hanalei Bay - one of the most beautiful and beginner-friendly beaches in Hawai‘i. With no rocks, reef, or coral, and consistent waist- to chest-high waves, Hanalei offers the perfect environment for learning to surf in a safe and fun setting. All of our students are provided with everything they need to get started, including a soft-top surfboard, rash guard, and leash.
As a multi-generational Native Hawaiian owned and operated surf school, we’re proud to share our love for the ocean and heʻe nalu with every lesson. We are also honored to be one of only six surf schools permitted by the State of Hawai‘i and the County of Kaua‘i to teach at Hanalei Bay. Know Before You Go
- Each lesson is 90 minutes (1.5 hours) long.
- 30 Min Land Training - Basic Skills, Stand Up, Lineup etiquette and Safety.
- 60 Min Ocean Applied Learning - Put your skills to the test and get surfing.
- All surf students will be equipped with a soft top surfboard, a leash, and a rash guard. More experienced surfers are welcome to upgrade their surfboard through our sister company, Kauai Surfboard Rentals for a discount.
- Mornings are generally better surfing conditions with less of a crowd.
- Our classes operate from 7:30am to 1:30pm Monday - Saturday to keep the breaks clear for our local community in the afternoons.
